This patented technology allows traffic to be controlled in areas where immediate emergency access is needed and life safety concerns are paramount. The MaxiForce Collapsible Bollard is designed to collapse when "bumped" by the bumper of a first responder vehicle. Once the bollard is engaged with a vehicle's bumper, it is slowly pushed over and collapses to the ground. Due to the unique non-roll rectangular shape of the bollard body (our standard style) the unit collapses to the ground and stays there until it is reset to the upright position by replacing two break-away inserts. The MaxiForce Collapsible Bollards offer a great alternative to gates with Knox boxes in fire lanes since pedestrian traffic is not restricted with the bollards as it would be with gates and the fire lane still remains restricted to vehicular access.

While all of the MaxiForce Collapsible Bollards carry the "Break-Away" feature, there are two manual operations to choose from, wrench and padlock. The wrench operated MaxiForce Collapsible Bollards can be easily operated by using an AWWA standard fire hydrant wrench. This is the same wrench that is used around the world to operate fire hydrants and is standard equipment for most emergency personnel (police, fire and ambulance) allowing for manual operation of the bollards in non-emergency situations such as routine drills or nightly checks. The padlock operated MaxiForce Collapsible Bollards utilize a locking pin that is located at the bottom of the bollard which engages the shackle of a padlock that can be unlocked by the appropriate user (padlocks are end user supplied).

When MaxiForce Collapsible Bollards are operated, they pivot on a "pivot block" that is attached to the top plate of the in-ground base and the bottom of the bollard body. This allows users to easily maneuver the bollard in or out of the collapsed or upright position without strenuous lifting. The locking mechanism of the wrench and padlock models allows the bollard to be locked and protected in the upright position to avoid unwanted lowering of the bollard.
